So ive been playing with the idea of getting back into sailing for over 10 years and last week i finally made the first step into my dreams of fixing up my own boat(or building at a later stage)
First off a few thank yous:
Thanks Philip for agreeing on the price with me and for giving all the extra goods(rudder, the torn sail wich can at least function as a guideline and all the clamps and hinges that came with it) really awesome!
Thanks dad for letting me borrow the car to go pick up my tub and in advance for the shop use for restoring it to its former glory!
Thanks Guus for helping me pick up the boat, financial support and for driving and carrying that mofo around with me!
Thanks Marcel for the temporary storage at your workshop so we can generate room at my dads to start working on it and the possibility of the mast i can take over from you to put on there!
So last saturday(19-04-2014) was the day to go pick up the little beauty in alge/clam disguise. we drove over and met the nice couple that were selling the boat. Thanks for the coffee and helping us getting it on the car guys, awesomecookies!:D it was a helluva trip back because i think over here its not allowed to drive with anything sticking out of the back of your vehicle over 1 meter and it kinda stuck out 1,5 meters bwahahah:lol: Ah well, passed police twice and luckily they didnt stop us trolol.
heres how it looked on the car:
So we finally brought it in and we drank a beer to celebrate. Now im working on getting the room sorted for the restoration project wich is going to be quite intense. The boatspecs can be found HERE. Its a La Prairie Zef, built in 1971(13years older than me hahaha)
The plan is so far:
take front deck off and reinforce or alter the whole thing to be able to fit a new mast and maybe put some solar panels in for the radio:P
completely sand the thing and reinforce it all over.
take the woodwork off and restore what can be saved, replace/refabricate what cannot.
make floorboards or something of the sort and liven up the interior with teak wood.
repair the dagger and rudder or make new ones.
get sails and all the gear needed.
bough point it for more freedom in front sails.
make misc stuff for the boat like gear and such, anything i can make myself id rather make than buy.
paint the damn thing black outside, white inside with possibly some nice paintjob courtesy of guus.(thinking black/white blocked here n there exterior but everything could change at a later stage)
anything else i forgot to mention and will find out on the way
AND THEN SAIL THE BUGGER!
Biesbosch here i come!
Ill keep ya posted on the progressions when we moved it up to the workshop and im starting the project!
Thanks for the interest,
Tommeh!
Ps: some more pics here, will make better ones when i get an in depth look at the boat while taking it apart.
^^ gonna be alot of fun sailing this!
